Mitsumi FX4820

Mitsumi FX 4820:

Audio-Grabbing:

For the audio grabbing we use the program Audio Catalyst. At the "grabbing" of the audio-CD this program shows the grabbing-speed. This speed depends on the location of the track on the CD. The insidetracks are grabbed slower than the outside tracks. Our test leads to the following results:

Track x-fold Grabbingspeed
First  Musictrack 4,65
Musictrack in the middle 7,38
Last Musictrack 9,33

For a comparison we determined the maximum speed value of the Artec-drive. Here the speed at the outside tracks is about 7,96-fold. Good grabbing-drives are able to grab with a maximum speed of about 15-20. So here Mitsumi can do a little bit more.

Equipment:

The user manual has an installation guide, which depends on a few basic knowledge the user needs. These 'basics' should be well known to a user, who has looked into his pc a few times. The installation guide could give be a little more information to a layman, who wants to install a CD-ROM for the first time. We give you a little help for this case in our Build-PC Column. The user manual also offers a driver installation help for the most operating systems. This is for the case, that the CD-drive will not automatically be recognized.
For problems and trouble with the drive there are  helps and hints to solve these problems and a concrete hint to the Mitsumi support-hotline.
Another positive aspect of the manual is an glossary, which explains terms all around the CD-drive.
The added software is also a good extra. It includes an audio CD player  and many other tools to sound and audio.
The only disadvantage is the missing Play/Skip-button. Therefore the user cannot play audio CDs without software.
